— Dan Rather

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, November 30, 2017 / — Veteran TV journalist Dan Rather comes to Live Talks Los Angeles for two separate appearances in downtown Los Angeles and Riverside to discuss his new book "What Unites Us: Reflections on Patriotism." Rather appears on Monday, December 4, 2017, 8:00pm at The Novo at L.A. Live in conversation with basketball legend, bestselling author and culture critic Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Speaking with Rather at the Fox Riverside Theatre the next day, Tuesday, December 5, 2017, 8:00pm, is talk show host, comedian and podcaster Larry Wilmore. Tickets and more details can be found at

The Los Angeles event marks Abdul-Jabbar's third appearance with Live Talks Los Angeles, and his first as an interviewer. Previously he discussed books he authored, "Coach Wooden and Me" and "Writings on the Wall." The talk between Rather and Wilmore is Live Talks Los Angeles' second foray into Riverside, after actor Bryan Cranston's appearance in September inaugurated Live Talks at the Fox. Emmy Award winner Wilmore is perhaps best known as the host of Comedy Central's "The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore" after serving as the "Senior Black Correspondent" on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart." Currently, he hosts "Larry Wilmore: Black on the Air" on The Ringer Podcast Network, which Time recently named as one of the Top 10 Podcasts of 2017. Off-screen, Wilmore serves as co-creator and consulting producer on HBO's "Insecure." He also helped to launch ABC’s "Black-ish" as an executive producer.

"What Unites Us," a book of essays co-written with Elliot Kirschner, was published earlier this month. "I find myself thinking deeply about what it means to love America, as I surely do," writes the iconic newsman on why he took on this project. At a moment of crisis over our national identity, Dan Rather has been reflecting—and writing passionately almost every day on social media—about the world we live in, what our core ideals have been and should be, and what it means to be an American. Now, in a collection of wholly original essays, the venerated television journalist celebrates our shared values and reminds us about what matters most in our great country.

With a famed and storied career that has spanned more than six decades, Dan Rather has earned his place as one of the world's best-known journalists. He has interviewed every president since Eisenhower and, over that time, personally covered almost every important dateline in the United States and around the world. Rather joined CBS News in 1962. He quickly rose through the ranks, and in 1981 he assumed the position of anchor and managing editor of the CBS Evening News—a post he held for 24 years. His reporting across the network helped turn "60 Minutes" into an institution, launched "48 Hours" as an innovative newsmagazine program, and shaped countless specials and documentaries. Upon leaving CBS, Rather returned to the in-depth reporting he always loved, creating the Emmy Award–winning Dan Rather Reports on HDNet. Now, building upon that foundation, he is president and CEO of News and Guts, an independent production company he founded that specializes in high-quality nonfiction content across a range of traditional and digital distribution channels.

Event Details: Tickets can be purchased at Live Talks Los Angeles. Price ranges from $40-$76 and all tickets include a copy of "What Unites Us." The Novo is located at 800 W. Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90015. Fox Performing Arts Center is at 3801 Mission Inn Avenue, Riverside, CA 92501.

Chadd Sullo From Stratford, Connecticut Is Planning To Coordinate Book Swap To Raise Money For Good Cause

Chadd Sullo 1

Chadd Sullo 1

STRATFORD, CONNECTICUT , UNITED STATES, November 30, 2017 / — If you have never been to a  book swap, it's a pretty simple concept. Everybody attending brings books they want to get rid of, they mingle and enjoy food and refreshments, and pick out books to buy. The money then goes to a local charity in the form of a donation. Chadd Sullo has been planning a book swap for his community, hoping to finalize a date soon.

After pondering a way to help the local children's section of the library, he realized why not incorporate the lifeblood of the building. That's books.

Residents all over the city have books they have read and are no use for them anymore. Sullo is planning on letting people set up a table for the books and sell them for reasonable prices. This event would help make the kids section at the library exceptional.

Sullo explains there could be other ways to run the book swap and get the most funds for the charity. The event could let patrons buy tickets that would then could towards purchasing books.

Older or less than good condition books would go for fewer tickets. The more recent and popular books would sell for more tickets. The more books a person wants to buy, the more tickets sold. More tickets sold means more funds for the cause.

While discussing this potential idea with other people, Sullo has become overwhelmed with support. He has been surprised with the amount of support that he has received.

Some residents have said they will donate money without even buying books. They believe the children's section of the library needs to be updated.

Ideas passed around to help the section would be purchasing computers. Currently, there is the only one computer available for use in the library. Adults and children use this desktop and always has a waitlist.

"Having multiple computers just for children would be beneficial for the library," Sullo says. "Not only would these computers be used to look up books in the library, but could have educational programs to play."

The library has done all it can over the years to update the building and different sections. But with minimum funds available, it has become a difficult task.

"The library, financially, is tapped out," explains Sullo. "I feel so sad for the administrators because they want to improve the children's section."

Another idea when it comes to using the funds raised from the book swap would be more books and games.

"Kids come to the library with parents and just wait around for nothing to do," says Sullo. "The money raised could buy games and activities for the kids."

The goal is to make the section engaging for children. With computers and games, these would occupy the children for hours.

If any leftover money is available, Sullo hopes to help build an outdoor gazebo in front of the library. In the summer, patrons could read and meet at the gazebo. Libraries in the surrounding communities have a gazebo, so this would be a trend the library would like to add.

"This book swap would be all about improving the library overall," states Sullo. "I love coming here and finding new books to read. I want that tradition to continue for years to come. That means updating the building and services to make sure that happens."

Finally, Sullo plans on coordinating the book swap with library officials in the next few weeks to set a date. After that, residents can start gathering books they want to sell or donate.

Expectations are high and the library cannot wait for the results.

Rob Bell Releases New Book – NO ONE Gets There ALONE

New Book on Mental Toughness

"Would you stop" is a question that you'll keep pondering even after reading this book on Mental Toughness.

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA, UNITED STATES, November 29, 2017 / — We cannot help out others in life without helping out ourselves as well.

"Would you stop to help someone else?" This was a question the author constantly asked himself after becoming stranded in a ½ Ironman. Only after two fellow competitors, complete strangers, helped him was he able to finish the race. But, you will keep pondering this question as well after reading this book.

"Would You Stop?"

Jesse Itzler, Author and owner of Atlanta Hawks, provided a testimonial stating, "Life is NOT a Race, it's a journey. It's a constant test of 'you vs. you' and it matters who you help along the way. Rob gets it."

Sport Psychology coach, Dr. Rob Bell's sixth book on Mental Toughness is released on December 7th, focuses on the theme of A Better You Makes A Better Us and A Better Us Makes A Better You.

Zig Ziglar once stated, "If we help enough people reach their goals, then we will reach ours."

NO ONE Gets There ALONE elaborates by explaining that we improve our own mindset in life, when we help others with their mindset. The simplest way to build mental toughness in ourselves is to focus on building up others. The book focuses on helping leaders and executives by illustrating how we have no idea the impact of our actions, but if we take no action, there will be no results.

After reading, you will apply how-to:
• Develop an athlete's mindset for everyday life.
• Prepare for your "Hinge moment."
• Apply the successful positive to negative interaction ratio in life.
• Change the way you feel about somebody by changing the way you treat them.
• Just keep moving to overcome adversity.

About Dr. Rob Bell:
Rob Bell is a noted Sport Psychology coach based in Indianapolis. He was the mental coach with Indy Eleven, University of Notre Dame, Marriott, and Walgreens. He has worked with winners on the PGA & ATP Tours, and an Olympic Silver medalist. This is his 6th book on Mental Toughness.

Hope of Story Returns to Houston’s Children

First Lady Barbara Bush with Young Reader

Wand-Paper-Scissors is the First Book in the Initiative

Literacy Advocates Restore Home Libraries Lost to Storm

There is nothing more powerful in awakening a child to her or his potential than a wonderful book.”

— First Lady Barbara Bush

HOUSTON, TEXAS, USA, November 29, 2017 / — The Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation is assembling leaders in education, philanthropy and literature to restore the magic of a good book to the children of Houston. "There is nothing more powerful in awakening a child to her or his potential than a wonderful book," said the former First Lady. “We want to inspire Houston’s children to become America’s future leaders and heroes and reach their fullest potential.”

The Foundation is working alongside Houston’s iconic philanthropist and businessman, Jim ‘Mattress Mack’ McIngvale, and Rabbit Publishers best-selling series, Harry Moon, in giving a book that celebrates goodness to thousands of elementary and middle school children in Houston and its surrounding area.

“I love Houston. To invest in Houston is to invest in its children,” said McIngvale. "I know what happens when a child gets inspired by a great story.”

Houston’s children and schools lost countless books through the devastating floods last month. The Foundations’ My Home Library program wants to make that right. “Many of the children in our Houston schools lost all of their books,” said Foundation President Julie Baker Finck. “Other kids never had a good book to begin with. We want books to become the most prized possession that a child owns.”

“We are so proud to have been chosen to inspire Houston’s children,” said Harry Moon author Mark Andrew Poe. “A child’s life can change in an instant through the power of a good story.”

Using goodness as their weapon of choice, the popular Harry Moon middle school series encourages readers to become heroes in their own communities, accepting the differences of others and cultivating kind behavior. The book design embraces the dyslexic and special needs reader as well.

The Foundation will be giving the gift of reading this Christmas it gives out 1000 hardcover copies of the Harry Moon book, Wand-Paper-Scissors, to school children beginning November 30. The giving of books will continue throughout 2018. The Foundation’s goal is to provide 25,000 Houston children with a home library of six books each through the My Home Library program.

“This sums up everything we would ever hope to accomplish at the Foundation,” said Finck. “Inspired community and business involvement, a great story, and a child reading a wonderful book that encourages them toward a virtuous, heroic life.”

About the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation
The Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation, co-chaired by Neil and Maria Bush, was established as a charitable organization focused on improving the quality of life for Houston residents through the power of literacy. The Foundation advocates for literacy as a fundamental right of everyone and a foundational skill towards success in life. It is founded on the belief held by Barbara Bush, former First Lady, “If you help a person to read, then their opportunities in life will be endless.” In 2013, the Bush Family created the Houston-based foundation separate from the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, a national foundation, in response to the need to deepen the awareness of and intensify services and support for the nation’s fourth largest and most diverse city – Houston. You are cordially invited to the party of the season at the Stahlbaums' on Christmas Eve. Yes…it’s The Nutcracker.

Available now at online and retail booksellers.

As a complement to the live production, Fossil Mountain Publishing has released a retelling of the ballet, Prince Dustin and Clara: Deep In The Black Forest.

There is no limit to what a person can do that has been inspired by the arts!”

— Fossil Mountain Publishing

DALLAS, TEXAS, UNITED STATES, November 29, 2017 / — Twas the night before Christmas…and the party begins. From New York to San Francisco; London to Australia, little ballerinas and pint-sized soldiers have given up their e-devices and favorite television shows to attend rehearsals for their town’s local production of The Nutcracker. Although the youngest members of the cast, they have to manage to get their homework done, often-times sprawled out on the floor of the rehearsal studio; continue their ballet classes, typically 3 or more times a week; all while meeting the rigorous Nutcracker rehearsal schedule. However, these young performers wouldn’t have it any other way. Soon they will be on stage wearing a beautiful party dress of satin or perhaps mouse ears and whiskers, dancing alongside the professional cast in a spectacular performance of one of the season’s most popular productions, The Nutcracker.

While rehearsing on stage, only the strong voice of the Production’s Director and the sound of the music can be heard. Everyone else, performers waiting patiently to rehearse and parents anxiously watching, can barely be heard. They softly whisper to avoid gaining the attention of the commanding Director. This is in stark contrast to what is happening backstage. Backstage, there’s a whirlwind of excitement! Production Assistants can be seen scurrying about; costumes must be adjusted, and props must be repaired. The list is endless in what goes on before opening night. The young performers don’t seem to notice the organized chaos all around them. When not doing homework, they can be heard chattering and laughing, as they play card games. And although some reality TV shows may depict otherwise, in reality, many of the young performers often form lasting friendships and close bonds.

As a complement to your holiday festivities and entertainment, Fossil Mountain Publishing is excited to announce the release of PRINCE DUSTIN AND CLARA: DEEP IN THE BLACK FOREST, a re-telling of The Nutcracker. The author, Daniel Lee Nicholson performed in The Nutcracker for 10 years. In his debut novel, he was sure to include the essence of the ballet, including many of the dance scenes. As Clara and the Nutcracker Prince, Prince Dustin, race to escape the wrath of Egon, they encounter one adventure after another Deep in the Black Forest. The Black Forest is the setting of the Snow Scene. Nicholson incorporated much of the allure of the Black Forest in his book. Nicholson’s tale is both fantasy and adventure to appeal to those young and young-at-heart; girls and lads, dancers and non-dancers alike.

PRINCE DUSTIN AND CLARA: DEEP IN THE BLACK FOREST is available through libraries and at most online and retail booksellers.

About Daniel Lee Nicholson:

He has been a performer and ambassador of the performing and fine arts ever since his first performance as a soldier in The Nutcracker in Chicago. Announcing the release of Volume 5 of a children's Monster Truck book series

monster truck, train ride, children's book, stocking stuffer, birthday party

Johnny’s Mini Monster Truck Uses a Winch

Johnny's Mini Monster Truck Uses a Winch
Johnny saves the day with a winch when his father has concerns for safely loading Mini Monster Truck on a trailer.

The goal of this book series is to have entertaining stories to read to children while teaching them new concepts such as colors, contrasts, directions, recycling, helmet safety, and more.”

— Scott Deuty

CHEYENNE, WY, UNITED STATES, November 29, 2017 / — Volume 5 is titled Johnny’s Mini Monster Truck Uses a Winch and is available just in time for the holidays. The fifth volume in a series, Johnny’s Mini Monster Truck Uses a Winch tells the story of how Johnny saves the day by suggesting a winch when his father has concerns for safely loading Mini Monster Truck on a trailer.
This is a special kind of book release that has a subsequent goal of reaching out with personalized visits to underprivileged, abused, special needs, and ill children with the ultimate kiddie ride, Mini Monster Truck. Our ride combines a train and a child-sized monster truck for the enjoyment of children while putting smiles on faces both big and small. More than just a typical book reading onsite, our service extends to appearances that allow children to see the truck in person and even ride behind it in train cars during a planned book tour. The ride is funded through book sales and paid appearances while donating free appearances to various charities, hospitals, special children, and fund raising events. We also appear in parades whenever we have the opportunity. We proudly insert valuable lessons and entertainment into these books and our visits in order to encourage funding of our effort to give back to the less fortunate. We also self-publish in an effort to keep prices low, and keep revenue and jobs in the US versus outsourced overseas.
The 32 page book contains 37 real life photos that tell the story of a little boy’s adventures with his child sized monster truck go kart. Johnny helps his dad solve a safety problem. Johnny’s solution comes from ideas created while playing with his trucks and learning along with his Cub Scout den. The book uses analogies to introduce new concepts to children including safety and profiling devices that perform two jobs. Mini Monster Truck features a remote controlled winch that children can operate during appearances. Operation takes place from a safe distance under adult supervision. Volume 5, Johnny’s Mini Monster Truck Uses a Winch introduces components that interest young readers including, winching, cables, and hooks while keeping safety in mind. Johnny saves the day with his solution to his father’s dilemma. Audiences will identify with the success proven plot of an adult problem that is introduced and then solved by the heroic efforts of a child.
Four other volumes are currently available in the series “The Adventures of Johnny’s Mini Monster Truck”. Each book cover is a different color for easy identification by a child.
Volume 1 A Monster Truck for Johnny (Ages 3-5) is a great bed time story for parents and grandparents when Johnny’s dram is answered when his dad builds a miniature monster truck go kart. This volume also is a favorite for preschools and libraries as well as a great bed time story for toddlers. The book features seven pages dedicated to helmet safety.
Volume 2 A Monster Truck for Johnny (Ages 6-8) targets first time readers by expanding with more detail and information than Volume 1. The book introduces how to create a flame paint job. The concept of safe riding gear is introduced to protect young riders from injury.
In volume 3, Johnny's Mini Monster Truck Tows a Train Ride, Mini Monster Truck’s train is created to give rides at birthday parties, fairs, and on location for children to enjoy. Mini Monster Truck is sad when Johnny grows up and no longer plays with him. Johnny helps Mini Monster Truck to be around children where he is happy once again. This volume provides the Segway for a book tour with live appearances by our combination monster truck and train ride at schools, libraries, and public and private venues such as shopping malls.
Volume 4 Johnny's Mini Monster Truck Rides on a Trailer appeals to a child’s interest in vehicles and towing while showing a new adventure of being loaded on and riding on a trailer. Johnny helps his dad solve the problem of transporting Mini Monster Truck along with all of the ride cars. Children learn about ramps, hitch concepts, trailer jacks, and how mirrors are used for guidance. The book has a happy ending as Johnny’s Mini Monster Truck travels to exciting events on a towed trailer.
The goal of this book series is to have entertaining stories to read to children while teaching them new concepts such as colors, contrasts, directions (up and down), recycling, helmet safety, mechanical devices, and more. Unique on-site visits to libraries, schools, and public and private events enable the author to share Mini Monster Truck up close and personal with children throughout the United States. Plans include a book signing/reading tour and children’s ride events. Mini Monster Truck’s appearances include merchandise such as t-shirts and foil inputs of tire monster truck tire treads. Future plans include a performance truck along with safety and aesthetic enhancements for the ride trailers. The author is an engineer, inventor, and patent writer. Many exciting features are planned as this theme expands to entertain children the world over.

Urban Ideas Announces Independent Artists and Creatives Performance, Promotion and Distribution Opportunities for 2018

Urban Ideas Limited Partnership, LLP and its independent label and publishing group are unveiling its 2018 growth plans which means big things for creatives.

It takes a team, a vision, a talent and a lot of fortune to be successful. There are no guarantees, but its worth the effort.”

— Michael Towns Senior Partner Urban Ideas, LLP

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, UNITED STATES, November 28, 2017 / — How do you get started, make money and build a career or business in the entertainment or creative space? Well there are many roads, but invariably you need to know someone. Urban Ideas Limited Partnership, LLP ("Urban Ideas") and its independent label group which includes Chicago Creed Music and Media Group (Chicago focused multi-genre label), Urban Creed Music and Media Group (national multi-genre label), Indie Chart Music Group (national multi-genre label with aggregator focus) and Kingdom Records (national gospel label) along with Urban Ideas Publishing Group and Urban Ideas Consulting Group whose tag line is "The Creative Commerce People" are the folks to know.

On Thursday November 30th at 7:30 PM at the Music Garage located at 345 N. Loomis in the Showcase Room on the 5th floor you will learn about the company's vision along with the opportunities it is forecasting to emerge for the right talents. So who should attend? Well according to Columbia Entrepreneurship and Finance professor and Urban Ideas partner and Chicago Creed label chief Michael Towns "This event is for anyone who wants to learn about creative entrepreneurship. It is for people who want to make money as artists and entrepreneurs. Whether you are selected by us or you choose another path, the information should serve you well."

What kind of talent? Sherree Lee Creative Director and A&R for Chicago Creed says we are thinking outside the box. We want singers, musicians, comedians, Broadway singer-actor types. We are also seeking various genres. We want jazz, pop, kids musical acts, R&B, hip-hop, rock, spoken word, inspirational, gospel, blues, EDM and more. The caveat is that we are really focusing on younger acts. Mind you, we do have our eyes open for that special seasoned act, but our plan is really looking to develop 18 to 28 year old artists. We are casting a wide net looking for talented people to help get them established and create some fantastic content. Our age constraint is only for the music program. So comedians, entrepreneurs and authors just come. Oh yeah, we also have some great internship opportunities.

What's the catch? Sherree laughs and says well that is why you have to attend. Seriously, the important thing is that we are looking for people who are serious, focused and can take direction. We have had a few stops and starts with folks who couldn't make a decision, follow through or their view of the business didn't mesh with our knowledge. We will talk about that as well.

Join Us at the Music Garage to meet the team and to learn more: 3 Mics Thursdays Events, Compilations Records, Covers Music Strategy, Tour Opportunities, Promotional Opportunities, Book Publishing, And More…

The informational will take place on Thrusday, November 30, 2017 a the Music Garage, 345 North Loomis, Chicago, IL in the Showcase Room (RM 515) at 7:30 PM CST.
