— Alex R. Sluzas, Esq.

PHILADELPHIA, PA, UNITED STATES, April 30, 2018 / — A copyright ascertains exclusive rights to persons who create original works of authorship, including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic and certain other intellectual works. Being a form of intellectual property law, it applies to both published and unpublished works.

Copyright law does not apply to facts and ideas. Instead, it protects the representation of facts and ideas. Works that are still intangible and not rendered onto a physical medium are just ideas and therefore not entitled to copyright protection.

Unlawful usage of works protected by the copyright law is known as copyright infringement. In case of infringement, you can seek the help of a copyright attorney. Copyright lawyers help clients apply for copyrights and represent them in disputes over copyrighted material.

Copyright offers the owner exclusive right to:

-Reproduce the work in copies
-Prepare imitative works based on the original work.
-Distribute copies of the work to the public by sale or other transfer of ownership or by rental, lease, or lending
-Perform the work publicly if it is a literary, musical, dramatic, or choreographic work
-Display the work publicly if it is a pictorial, graphic, audio-visual or sculptural work. This right also applies to the still images of a motion picture or other audiovisual creations.
-Broadcast the work publicly using a digital audio transmission if the work is a sound recording
-Copyright law applies to the following:
-Literary works
-Musical works
-Dramatic works
-Choreographic works
-Artistic works
-Motion pictures and other audiovisual works
-Sound recordings
-Architectural works
-Literary Works

Section 101 of the Copyright Act defines “literary works” as “works, other than audiovisual works, expressed in words, numbers, or other verbal or numerical symbols or indicia, regardless of the nature of the material objects, such as books, periodicals, manuscripts, phonorecords, film, tapes, disks, or cards, in which they are embodied.”
Works termed as “literature,” such as novels, poems, stories, essays, etc.

Written work like catalogs, reference books and databases are also applicable for copyright protection. On the Internet, this definition of literary work includes emails, blog posts, online forums posts, and even computer programs.

Musical Works

“Musical works" include the instrumental component of the work as well as any accompanying words. According to Section 115 of the Copyright Act, musical works should have “compulsory licensing” once they have been released to the public. These compulsory licenses allow any musician to perform or record their own version of a song without getting permission from the original songwriter.

Dramatic Works

Any work of action, with or without words or music that can be performed before an audience falls under the category of “Dramatic works.” Dramatic works include plays, screenplays, scripts, choreographic notation, choreographic shows and scenarios for a film (but not the film itself). Any work that is intended to be performed dramatically and has been recorded in some form is qualified for copyright protection. Copyright owners of dramatic works possess the right to reproduce, publish, publicly perform, communicate or adapt their works.

Artistic Works

Artistic work commonly includes pictorial, graphic and sculptural works. Artistic works are protected by various statutory rights pursuant to section 32 of the Copyright Act 1968. Some examples provided by this section include paintings and drawings, sculptures, crafts, architectural plans and buildings; and photographs; and maps and plans. Digital illustrations also fall under this category.

Motion Pictures and Other Audiovisual Works

"Audiovisual work," involves anything which combines both images (visual) and recorded sound (audio). The category of "audio-visual works" includes not just movies. Everything from movies to slideshows to video podcasts—anything that is meant to be visually presented (be it on a projector, TV or computer screen) that consists of recorded sound and images.

Sound Recordings

Sound recordings are defined by the Copyright Act as "works that result from the fixation of a series of musical, spoken, or other sounds, but not including the sounds accompanying a motion picture or other audio-visual work.”

Unlike musical works copyright, which protects the musical notes that make up a song, the actual recording of that performed notation is protected as a sound recording. That is, an actual recording of the song onto a physical medium (the CD, tape, mp3 file, etc.) is considered a sound recording. Sounds can also include speeches, sound effects, and audio books.

Architectural Works

The architectural work category protects the design of a building in architectural blueprints, architectural drawings, and even buildings themselves. In the case of architectural works, copyright can protect the work’s general form as well as the arrangement and composition of spaces and elements in the design. Buildings meet the general requirements for copyright protection if they are not just basically functional but have adequately original design.

LAS VEGAS, Trading Made Easy has just announced the launch of their new fully automated trading software. The new software has been field tested for more than two and a half years and only runs when the user chooses. The software can trade nearly any asset across multiple markets. The Trading Made Easy group uses it daily to trade the E-mini on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

All that's necessary is to set a few simple-to-understand settings, turn on the automatic trading algorithm and let it run. That's it. Turn it on and let it go. Trades are taken automatically based on a proprietary method that uses a combination of analytics regarding price action, market momentum and the current market trend. Trades are then automatically exited based on parameters the user sets based on Trading Made Easy money management principles. Finally, the platform can create a multitude of reports based on the user's trading, showing profitability in currency, points or percentages.

"For those thinking this is too good to be true, I welcome them to stop by the website and sign up for free training sessions and to test out how the software works for themselves," says James Viscuglia II, CEO of Trading Made Easy and creator of the software. "My goal is for people to be able to make a living day trading. Viscuglia believes in complete transparency. Because of this, Trading Made Easy is inviting those interested to take a look and see the software in action. Do you believe in the wonders of life and its mysteries?

BOCA RATON, FL, ESTADOS UNIDOS, April 30, 2018 / — There are house elves. Heroic house elves!

There are Middle-Earth elves. Fair and wise, with great spiritual powers, keen senses and a close empathy with nature.

There are serious elves. There are frivolous elves.

And there are duendes: in Portuguese and Iberian folklore, they are beings of a small stature wearing big hats, whistling a mystical song, while walking in the forest. In some Latin American cultures, duendes are the helpers of people who get lost in the forest, so they could find their way home.

They are mischievous. But they are compassionate. They are magical. But they are practical. They are spiritual. They are down to earth. And they share with their people the wisdom of the ages.

Do you believe in elves? If not, why not?

If you need them, they will find you. But you need to get out into nature, disconnect, and listen to the trees.

Author Valeria Lopes of Brazil advises what has become a part of Japanese culture. It’s called shinrin-yoku in Japanese—literally translated as “forest bathing”—and it’s very simple: immerse yourself in the forest, absorb its sights, sounds, and smells, and you will reap numerous psychological and physiological benefits. And your elf, if you need one, may visit you!!

Of course, to have an elf, you need to believe in elves. If you’d like to know more about how they choose which people to visit, then take a look inside the book: “Gypsy Love: Dream or Reality?” by Valeria Lopes from PiuBook Publishing.

You’ll travel to a world of mysteries and ancient wisdom and you’ll meet Vla, the heroic, mischievous elf.

You can find the book on Amazon

When your cardiologist tells you to “Get your affairs in order, your heart condition is incurable,” what do you do?

"Powerful and unforgettable" If you are fighting any kind of illness or dis-ease, you are not alone!

PUERTO VALLARTA, JALISCO, MEXICO, April 29, 2018 / — When you write a memoir, there's no place to hide. When your cardiologist tells you to “Get your affairs in order, your heart condition is incurable,” what do you do?

Lynda shares her personal story in the typical fast-paced, edgy, in-your-face style she’s known for in her fiction writing. She will walk you through her journey to self-love sharing her belief in journals, love, prayer, soul, spirituality and positive mindset. She’s hard-hitting but compassionate.

She writes about romantic experiences that may shock you but makes no apologies for her unconventional lifestyle. Nor does she hold back taking responsibility for the things that she believes created her dis-ease.

You will definitely question a woman who walks around in denial; then makes a decision to drive, all alone, from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to Whistler, Canada with undiagnosed Idiopathic Dilated Cardiomyopathy. Men and women are often self-care-challenged and Lynda was no the exception.

If you are fighting any kind of illness or dis-ease, you are not alone! Lynda has walked her talk, and after an experience in the summer of 2015 relating to Dr. Wayne Dyer, she is now ready to release her story Lynda knows how it feels to be told you’re not healing or your condition is incurable. At no point will she undermine anything your physicians tell you to do. She is not a medical doctor. She will explain the powerful, yet simple concepts, beliefs, balance, and faith that she believes led to her healing. Most of all, she will show you how she used these simple principles to design and live, the fully healed life she now enjoys in 2017.

You will shake your head in wonder, laugh, and maybe cry too. If you want less pain, worry, and stress about dis-ease and life in general, you will want to read this simple yet powerful story.

"This is a book every human alive should read and take away the lessons given. If I could give it ten stars, I would. It's that good."J. Sikes

Author Charles Lisa Publishes Debut Christian Memoir, ‘A Product of a Pimp and a Prostitute: My Forgiveness Journey’

Headshot of the author, Charles Lisa

Book Highlights Effects of Drug Epidemic and Penal System on Families

Charles Lisa has dug in and chronicled the power of a life of faith under dire circumstances. With an unflinching eye and sound heart, she has shown us how it is to be steadfast; to grow through pain.”

— Marion Roach Smith, Author

ALBANY, NEW YORK, USA, April 29, 2018 / — King Jesus Press LLC released today the highly-anticipated book, “A Product of a Pimp and a Prostitute: My Forgiveness Journey.” This memoir, written by new author Charles Lisa, details a life of growing up without her mother, and she shares personal stories of unimaginable experiences as she dealt with her mother’s negligence and criminal lifestyle.

“Countless number of families in this country experience issues that stem from drug addiction,” said Charles Lisa. “While society now recognizes this as a public health crisis and is putting resources in place, that wasn’t always the case. Too often, families were severed because the way to fight the so called ‘war on drugs’ was to lock up offenders. This left children without parents and other family members struggling to care for them. I was one of those children. This book highlights some of my experiences and my journey to find forgiveness.

“My memoir will force readers to examine relationships in their lives that are broken because of unforgiveness,” Charles Lisa continued. “For me, it was drugs and a life of crime that kept my mother away from me. For others, it may be another significant action causing tears among friends, family members, co-workers or church members. By the end of this book, readers will understand the importance of giving and receiving grace and forgiveness.”

“A Product of a Pimp and a Prostitute” is an inspirational memoir about forgiveness written by an adult daughter as a letter to her biological mother. Reared by her maternal grandmother – Hazel – Charles Lisa confronts her mother Deborah on her absence in her life growing up and outlines all the limited and negative interactions she has had with her as a child and into adulthood.

Recalling memories from her youth, Charles Lisa stirs up past feelings of neglect, embarrassment and despair over the knowledge of having a mother with a life-long, criminal record and a debilitating drug addiction. She tells this story by sharing her experiences, her mother’s jailhouse letters, stories told by her elders throughout the years and, most importantly, her belief in God.

The book’s pivotal moment occurs when the author offers the gift of forgiveness to her mother and demonstrates how her mother and other readers can benefit from God’s forgiveness, self-forgiveness, forgiving others and accepting forgiveness from those who offend them to have a more fulfilling life.

Praise for “A Product of a Pimp and a Prostitute”

Marion Roach Smith, author of “The Memoir Project, A Thoroughly Non-Standardized Text for Writing & Life” said: “Charles Lisa has dug in and chronicled the power of a life of faith under the most dire of circumstances. With an unflinching eye and sound heart, she has shown us how it is to be steadfast and to grow through pain.”

Ronald D. Smith, professor emeritus, SUNY Buffalo State said: “This book is an example of a compelling story well told. It has a dignity and humanity that shows a woman of perseverance and courage. In spite of all the hardships and unfairness of her life, Charles Lisa has emerged as an ethical human being who has risen above extraordinarily negative odds. I'm certain that readers who themselves may be struggling with adversity will be inspired by her story.”

Dr. Damone Paul Johnson, senior pastor, Metropolitan New Testament Mission Baptist Church, Albany, NY and author of “A Life Worth Rebuilding” said: “Charles Lisa challenges you to forgive yourself and others and not allow what has happened to you to block what God has for you. You can’t change where you’ve been, but you can choose where you’re going. This book is a game changer!”

Rev. Emmett Mixon, pastor, Community Church COGIC, Buffalo, NY said: “This memoir written by Charles Lisa gives insight and hope to families dealing with life situations and circumstances. She has opened herself to complete transparency and revealed through her own personal experiences how to trust God and allow him to deliver and strengthen all our family relationships. Her freedom to share detailed and sensitive information of her faith journey in life gives readers first-hand knowledge in the world of addiction, its consequences and effects on family relations, and the struggle to find spiritual answers to pain and suffering. A testimony comes in varies ways, but the end result is to tell of God’s goodness and mercy. Charles Lisa has done just that in her memoir.”

Words, Pictures and Children's Imagination Come Alive at the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival 2018

SHARJAH, UAE, April 27, 2018 / — Described as “Sharjah’s gift to the world” by Ahmad Al Ameri, the chairman of Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF) is certainly a huge gift wrapped in a world of fun, delight and learning for the young members of the society. 10 days of activity, amazement and creativity at the Expo Centre Sharjah, the 10th edition of the SCRF was inaugurated by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, the UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

Following the festival theme “Your Future Just a Book Away”, as 134 local and foreign publishers, and 286 authors, poets and other literary guests join to add colors to this outstanding cultural festival, with over 50,000 children are being led through some 2,600 events and activities spanned over 11 days of the festival. SCRF 2018 offers a series of interactive and creative activities, sessions and workshops for the young learners under the main theme of Kids Activities, Cultural Programs, Social Media Café, Cultural Café, Kids’ Creative Café as well as Cookery Corner. The event further comprises many distinctive features including 3D Books workshop, Pop-up Books Exhibitions, Future Machine Exhibition, SCRF mascots and a cooking competition called “Little Chef” for children aged from 6-10 and 11-16 years.

Sheikh Sultan personally toured the different displays, workshops and exhibition halls adorned with a vast collection of printed as well as digital publications and learning materials by local, regional and international publishing houses and organizations. During his visit, he also viewed and appreciated the Children’s Books Illustrations, where 104 illustrators contributed their 355 artworks from 32 countries, including 12 Emirati and 29 illustrators from other Arab countries.

Sheikh Sultan commended the illustrators for their contributions in capturing children’s imagination to help develop their interest in reading. Illustrators that stood out receiving exhibition awards from Sheikh Sultan were Rasa Jansiawiskit (Lithuania) with first prize, Yang Park (South Korea) with second position and ranking third was Mariana Pedraza hailing from Mexico.

Further at the books exhibition the SCRF Awards 2018 were awarded to authors with Dr. Ibrahim Shalabi and Sonia Al Nimr receiving the Arabic Young Adult Book Award, targeting children 13 to 17 years of age, for their books “Wasim Tours” and “Thunderbird” respectively, while the International Children’s Book Award was presented to Michelle Zilkoski as well as Mariam Saqr Al Qasimi for her book “Where the Letters Disappeared?”. This year the SCRF features specialized spaces not much different from labs for children’s activities aimed at instilling a deeper sense of interactive exchange with kids. The children have the opportunity to experience several different learning techniques meant to provoke creative interest in them and develop it further with the help of innovative approaches. For instance, at the Future Machine Exhibition, children are being familiarized with new age digital models and replicas developed on the principles of artificial intelligence whereas the Fun Robotics Centre introduces them to stimulating workshops to help children as well as adults develop their knowledge and skills in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mechanics.

Then there is the 3D Books Exhibition that brings back the ancient art of pop-up books to children filling their minds with wonder and, the 3D art workshop held by Italian children’s book publisher Matteo Faglia further helps intrigue their imagination by teaching them how to turn a simple piece of paper into a 3D pop-up. While over at the Social Media Café, guiding about the use of new-world social media platforms, the children are being educated about their safe and useful application in daily life.

Moving on, children have some real amazement and excitement in store in the form of virtual reality and augmented reality interactive sessions at the VRXOne led by CEO, Dr. Sana Farid. The workshop seems to attract a huge crowd of young as well as adult visitors as the children are guided through different Google Expeditions exploring the virtual worlds of biology, geology and world travels. Their excitement and interest piques up as their actions translate into response by virtual objects.

The festival also features a series of Arab and foreign theatrical performances combining education with entertainment including the virtual reality illusion show by famous Japanese visual artist Hara Hiroki, showcasing the latest in fusion magic and holographic illusionary art.

As the SCRF 2018 continues to go on capturing the attention of the youth, enlightening them on the importance of book reading and the various creative and innovative conventional and modern learning techniques, the event has still a lot to offer over the next few days promising great excitement, entertainment and learning.

A new software tool helps users keep vital parts of PDF documents inaccessible to unauthorized people.

L.A., CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, April 24, 2018 / — Today released their free PDF security software utility PDF Page Lock, which enables users to lock or hide selected pages of a PDF document with a password encryption.

Protecting important documents from prying eyes finds use in both corporate and home appliances. A typical solution is to just encrypt the PDF document a user wants to stay secure and therefore limit access to its content. However, sometimes locking the entire document is not necessary or may even become a hinder. For instance, a long corporate contract should be made readable by a number of people in different positions, but not all of them may have enough privileges to look at certain parts of the contract.

PDF Page Lock is a Windows application that effortlessly adds partial lock functionality to PDF documents. In particular, the tool can lock with a password or hide completely selected page of the given PDF document while leaving all other pages publicly available. When a page of a PDF document is locked, any PDF viewer will display an empty page with a lock icon on it, and hidden pages do not show at all. Unlocking the pages require running PDF Page Lock again and entering the correct password.

One great advantage of PDF Page Lock is that the document in whole remains accessible on any computer, while the locked pages become protected. Hence, encrypting the entire PDF file is not necessary, and no third-party software is required to see such a protected PDF document on other computers.

PDF Page Lock has very straightforward interface and operates swiftly even on older computers. The software is free both for home and business use.

Pricing and availability

PDF Page Lock is free software available for Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10, 32-bit and 64-bit editions. Besides the EXE installer version, it also has a portable ZIP version for advanced users.

Founded in 2016, is a technology startup focused on developing document processing tools and software including document format converters and PDF merging tools.
