NEW YORK, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, June 25, 2018 / — If you love books, any summer is a good one. Award-winning Journalist, Fran Briggs recently recognized ten books as among the best of summer reading, 2018. The annual promotion puts the spotlight on a select group of emerging and established international authors from Los Angeles, to New York; to the U.K., and Asia.

The Best of Summer Reading, 2018, is organized by title, author, publisher, a short synopsis, and a link for additional information and purchase. Genres include science-fiction; western; children’s; mystery; humor; spiritual; wisdom, and urban literature.

“Try as one might, one could never read all the best books of summer. However, this diverse group of authors pride themselves on giving readers opportunities to be stunningly fulfilled,” stated Briggs.

Briggs pointed out that “The books do not represent a series of ‘greatest hits.’ They were selected to showcase each author's literary vision through their subject, creativity, impact, and influence. Showcased is each author’s distinguished contribution to the literary world,” she concluded.

New sights, new culture and the chance to make new writing friends, direct 1-2-1 coaching, focused workshops and a live-action murder mystery…

GRIMSBY, N.E. LINCS, UNITED KINGDOM, June 21, 2018 / — Are you feeling uninspired and need your writing mojo back? A trip to the continent may well be just what you need to refresh your little grey cells!

New sights, new culture and the chance to make new writing friends, direct 1-2-1 coaching, focussed workshops and a live-action murder mystery are all on offer through Red Herring Games this October as part of their Writers Retreat mini-cruise.

This is the third writers retreat run as a partnership between The Writing Hall and Red Herring Games. The last two retreats have been based in a UK hotel.

“We wanted to do something different this year” Jo Smedley, the managing director of Red Herring Games said. “Sometimes what you need as a writer is new experiences, and while a retreat to a UK hotel is great, being surrounded by a different culture can be incredibly inspiring.”

The retreat has only been running two years but attendees of previous weekends have gone on to have a novel published or their plays produced, which just goes to show how valuable the retreat can be.

“Everyone has a different writing style and is working on a different project” said Diane Hall of The Writing Hall. “Many writers’ courses offer a one-size-fits-all approach, and while we do have group workshops we also like to provide 1-2-1 coaching and feedback, which is invaluable for writers.”

The retreats attract many returning guests and places are always limited and available on a first come first serve basis. So it’s worth booking early to avoid disappointment.

“There are tutorials and workshops planned at different points during the weekend, and on Saturday during the day they’ll be free to explore Amsterdam or Rotterdam” Jo Smedley said. “We also have some fun planned too – with the writers taking part in a live-action murder mystery during the evenings.”

This year is the first time the retreat will take place during a mini-cruise, but Jo Smedley says if it works as well as they hope, next year could be a trip to Bruge.

If you’ve always wondered if you could turn your hand to writing and would like to grab your place on the writers retreat you can book directly through Eventbrite or call Red Herring Games today on 01472 348909.

New Bookstore Concept Aims to Help Customers ‘Rethink Their Relationship with Bookstores’!

With an increasing amount of bookstore closings, a Chicago woman has responded with a cool new twist on an old favorite.

My favorite places have always been libraries and bars, so I wanted to bring the best parts of both into one really cool spot.”

— Owner, Danielle Mullen

CHICAGO, IL, USA, June 20, 2018 / — With an increasing amount of bookstore closings, a Chicago entrepreneur has responded with a new twist on an old favorite.

A new Chicago bookstore, set to open in August, uses technology and a monthly membership model to draw in its customer base. The unique space combines comfort, technology, and a restaurant/bar in a playful Fulton Market location.

“The goal was to create a venue that I’d love to hang out in.” said concept-creator and owner, Danielle Mullen. “My favorite places have always been libraries and bars, so I wanted to bring the best parts of both into one really cool spot.”

The store combines a library-themed concept with a bar, restaurant, and all-around hangout spot. With a monthly membership model, visitors are able to ‘checkout’ a specified number of books via their app, and either return them to checkout more, or purchase them outright. Users are also able to pre-order drinks and appetizers, as well as reserve breakout space. While you don’t have to be a member to shop, VIP members get chip-embedded cards that allow access to the membership-only floor, which is appropriately decked out with a top-shelf whiskey bar and cigar lounge.

"I think it's important to give customers options in whether or not they'd like to purchase the physical book outright. I also think customers will love the idea of being a part of a great new concept!", says owner.

Athenaeum will be introducing itself to the city via its first pop-up shop taking place August 10th-12th, 2018 at Block 37. The ‘Art is Life’ themed pop-up will include art-based books, curated cocktails, and a live street-art demonstration. The company’s Indiegogo campaign ( is set to launch on Friday, June 22nd, giving potential customers a chance to purchase their monthly memberships at a discounted rate.

Monthly Subscription Box LOVED+BLESSED Encourages and Reminds Women to Walk in Faith

After dreaming of becoming a wife and a mother, I found myself facing infertility and needed something to remind me that no matter what happened, how things turned out, everything was going to be okay”

— Jamila Jackson, Founder, loved+blessed

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, June 19, 2018 / — Everyone needs encouragement. With depression and suicide rates on the rise in the US, the need for people to feel loved, supported and accepted is more important than ever. But even in the best of times, daily life can be a struggle, and a small bit of encouragement can carry you through the day.

Jamila Jackson, founder of loved+blessed, understands firsthand how small bits of hope can make a significant impact on a life. After years of struggling with infertility, Jamila had a crisis of faith where she realized that she had become obsessed with motherhood. Once she gave this struggle to God, He, in turn, gave her the idea for “boxes of encouragement” that would help other women who are facing struggles, or who just need a reminder to slow down during a busy day.

Infertility, abuse, loneliness, divorce, single parenting, depression, singleness, caring for aging parents and a myriad of other issues plague women, but too often, these women suffer in silence and bear their struggles alone. Unfortunately, the church is often ill-equipped to support these issues.

"After dreaming of becoming a wife and a mother my whole life, I found myself facing infertility and just needed something to remind me that no matter what happened, no matter how things turned out, everything was going to be okay,” Jamila explains.

For the past 5 years, subscribers have received a monthly care package with a unique and God-inspired message that isn’t focused on products, but on helping women stay encouraged and grow in their faith. Each box is themed with an inspiring message, an uplifting Scripture that can be applied to their daily life, and gifts to brighten your day. Along with the physical product, women receive a monthly blog post and workbook that helps put the Word into action, as well as access to a private online group where subscribers can make friends, participate in discussions and share prayer requests.

Proceeds from every subscription box also go to help fund the vital work of Union Rescue Mission, providing essential needs and support for people living in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles.

“God has already used loved+blessed in miraculous ways,” Jamila continues. “I’ve been overwhelmed and honored to be able to play a part in helping women know that they are still loved, even when life doesn’t work out the way you expect. Our team is excited to watch how God continues to work through loved+blessed.”

Author Betty Lowrey Explores Themes Of Faith, Acceptance And Self-Expression In Forgiven

Forgiven by Betty Lowrey

Set against the backdrop of a child kidnapping, Betty Lowrey's "Forgiven" introduces readers to four fascinating women and prompts self-reflection.

DEXTER, MISSOURI, UNITED STATES, June 18, 2018 / — Author Betty Lowrey has turned a kidnapping mystery into a deeper story that explores the role of faith in how people react to traumatic events. Forgiven is the first in a series of five books that explore the themes of acceptance, self-expression, and the impact of faith on daily life. In this first book, readers are introduced to four women who come together against the backdrop of a child kidnapping near the Ozarks in Missouri. Ellen, Beatrice, Anne, and Harriet find their lives entwined and their tenuous friendship tested by the kidnapping of Ellen's daughter, Ruthie.

As the three support Ellen during this trying time, they are also carefully watching her and specifically how her faith in God influences her actions and beliefs throughout the ordeal. Will Ellen's faith compel the others to open their own hearts to God and perhaps find peace and acceptance?

"Forgiven is based on a network of women who ask little of each other, realizing each has made mistakes in their past and are striving to live a better life. Watching Ellen displaying her faith in God, the others begin to wonder what faith could do for their own life as they each face their own inner demons. Similarly, Forgiven prompts readers to examine their own faith and relationship with God," explained author Betty Lowrey.

Forgiven is being considered for film adaptation and will soon be available as an indie film production. Additional books in the series are: Forbidden, Forsaken, Forever, and Forgotten. Each books further explores the women, their developing friendships, and the role of faith and God in their lives.

Betty Lowrey is the author of eight books. In addition to the five in the Forgiven series, she has authored Promises, Serendipity on Angel's Wings, and Secrets. Her books are available for purchase on

The latest publication by the Gladiator Publishing team containing 256 pages of indexed resources for writers

One of the World’s oldest professions is experiencing drastic changes according to the executives team at Gladiator Publishing Company

The direction dictated by society, it's becoming more difficult to stand for something, anything. Once we lose the sense of justice to the fog of injustice, we become less than human. ”

SENECA, MISSOURI, USA, June 16, 2018 / — Missouri, United States – June 16, 2018 – One of the World’s oldest professions is experiencing drastic changes according to the executive team at “Gladiator Publishing Co.”

In 1911 the British publication, ‘Encyclopedia Britannica’, described the publishing business as "a purely commercial affair that cared more about profits than about literary quality”. Fast forward to 2018, the once respected profession has become overrun with turmoil. Rumors and accusations of fraudulence, overpricing, low-quality work and pure laziness forced many to turn to their own resources.

The strategy-masterminds of Gladiator Publishing Company use their collective twenty-plus-years in Literature to provide a much-needed resolution. “We’ve dedicated our lives to finding ways around the mess others made” Editor-in-Chief, Haley L. Young continues “it’s unethical to just sit back and watch what this industry collapse”.

Editor and Author Haley L. Young and her partner, Author and Entrepreneur Albert Kaufmann, dedicated years to perfecting techniques that provide a customized service to Authors. Using unconventional, yet highly impactful marketing tactics, they have lowered Author’s financial cost an unbelievable 75-80% compared to the industry average.

“We, not only, provide our service to Authors but we train them as we go”. Owner and head of Publishing, Albert Kaufmann states “we use resources available to them now. Focus on the market and stay loyal to Author, that’s what Publishing should be”.

Their dedication to the industry is evident in their latest book, Literarily Lost. This massive index is 256 pages of cover-to-cover resources. This literary-encyclopedia has been displayed in numerous cross-country Expo’s and referred to by Win Kelly Charles, host of Podcast Show Ask Win, as the “Yellow Pages of Publishing”.
