On Friday Christine Ichim rollerbladed across San Francisco in a procession of fire engines to raise awareness for firefighter cancer prevention.

You matter, your donations matter, your advocacy matters. You are the hope for all these firefighters whose greatest threat to life is not fire but cancer”

— Christine Ichim

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, USA, October 17, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Christine Ichim became the first woman to rollerblading across Canada for leukemia research. Twenty five years ago on October 15th, she completed her 5000 mile trek. On Friday she commemorated that achievement by rollerblading across San Francisco to raise awareness for firefighter cancer prevention.

“Research saves lives”, Ichim stated at a ceremony held at San Francisco Fire department headquarters after her skate across the city. “I know now in my heart of hearts that there is nothing that is impossible. Cancer is the number one cause of line of duty deaths in the fire service. It is just not fair that those who would put their lives on the line for us would have their own lives endangered by the insidious disease of cancer. We need to fight it with everything we have, because we can make a difference.”

Escorted by a relay of SFFD engines and ladder trucks from nine separate firehouses, Ichim proceeded from one end of the city to the other. Ichim started her commemorative skate at Ocean Beach, dipping her skates in the ocean to initiate the event. She proceeded to make her way across San Francisco on skates along with SFFD LT. Julie DeJarlais accompanying her on bicycle, and trailed by engines and other apparatus along the way. They rolled by nine firehouses to highlight their service and the existential threat to their personnel presented by cancer from toxic exposures in the workplace.

Once Ichim reached the department headquarters, she was greeted by Chief Jeanine Nicholson and members of the command staff, along with honored guests such as the Consul General of Canada Rana Sarkar and Tony Stefani, head of the San Francisco Firefighter’s Cancer Prevention Foundation.

Sarkar presented Ichim with a letter of appreciation from the government of Canada, and Stefani accepted the donations Ichim collected as a result of her fund-raising efforts.

Ichim, inspired by Terry Fox, embarked on her journey to give hope to her mother who had terminal leukemia. “I had promised her that I would fight for her until the end. When she was given six months to live, I put on a pair of rollerblades to skate across Canada to fund a clinical trial in immunotherapy. I skated to fund research. I skated to give her hope. I skated because I had promised her I would not sit and watch her die,” said Ichim.

Ichim began her scientific quest then and there, building a laboratory in the basement of the family home in Kitchener, Ontario when she was still in grade school and devoting her time and energy to learning more about the foe she was fighting.

When Ichim was 18 she conceived the idea of rollerblading across Canada to raise funds and awareness for leukemia research, and after lining up support from various community organizations and local firms she embarked on her journey from Victoria BC. Six months and 5000 miles later she rolled into St. John’s, Newfoundland, completing the epic voyage and raising over $165,000 for cancer research. Her mother lived long enough to see her daughter return home and hung in long enough for doctors to discover the miracle drug Gleevec that dramatically changed the course of the disease.

Inspired by the ability of research to save human lives, Ichim is now the founder and CEO of Florica Therapeutics, a biotech startup in San Francisco named after her mother. She wanted to commemorate the anniversary of her crossing of Canada by shining the spotlight on the scourge of cancer in the fire service.

“We visited the firefighters memorial in Sacramento. I looked at the names of fallen firefighters, whose names were carved in stone. I saw at least a dozen names of people I knew, coworkers, friends of mine, recruits whom were lost to cancer.” said Terry Hogue (ret.) Rescue Captain for SFFD and Ichim’s husband. “My eyes welled with tears to see that some of the people we had lost to cancer were people I had trained in the fire academy, the next generation that was suppose to take over for us.”

Ichim came to San Francisco to complete postdoctoral research at Lawrence Berkeley National Labs. “There are many great cities in the world but San Francisco is the city where dreams come true. San Francisco is also a leader in social justice, it is a place where voices are heard and where voices matter. Dreamers come here to change the world. I too am a dreamer, and I dream of the day where we can cure cancer,” said Ichim.

“We can make a difference. Every person matters. I remember every person who gave me a high-five, who honked for support, who made a donation. You matter, your donations matter, your advocacy matters. You are the hope for all these firefighters whose greatest threat to life is not fire but cancer.”

FUENGIROLA, MáLAGA, ESPAñA, October 17, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Morocco’s provocative litany of hostilities towards Algeria has led, on the 24 august of this year, to the breaking off of International relations by Algeria. Is this the prelude to an “Intense violent military campaign, a Blitzkrieg” to steal Algeria’s resources, the world’s 11th oil and gas producing country?
Ever since 1953 when a declining British Empire and the US danced a struggle of sorts for control of the oil-rich Middle East, the USA has always maintained a surreptitious open eye on Western or Spanish Sahara. More recently the “Trump” sponsored recognition of Israel by a hitherto antagonistic Morocco, and subsequent fostering of relations between the two states, has set analysts wondering what surprises the future may have in store for the region.
The book, “Malak desert child.” is a stunning evocation of North Africa and its encounter with Western civilisation seen through the relationship between Pete, fleeing to Morocco to escape his mental demons by seeking solace in a pre-modern world, and a family who in escaping from their violent, drunken father to the Algerian Sahara, experience other problems and persecution. The rich valleys and deserts of Morocco and Algeria, are given depth by insight into the immediate history of the area and two upheavals, a rebellion and a revolution. OGarra brings an unusual sympathy and insight into this largely unknown world, the southern 'Other' of Western civilisation, and through his familiarity and insight probes and brings out our common humanity in this tale of struggle and adventure. Albeit in the company of a courageous girl-child, her family and her newly acquired band of personages who seek only to save her from her own valour which finds her time and again plunging headfirst into the abyss.
Malak desert child is the second book in the continuing story of Masuhun (Moon) and his friends, and deals with how they tried to help Malak, a pupil at the local school, and her family, and finished up being pursued by desert armies in the Sahara desert…………………………. Malak is a beautiful five-year-old girl child. She lives in a cave in dire poverty with her drunkard father and her Saharoui mother and sister. Her enemies are all the towns children who victimize her and her sister because of their race and condition. Her only friend is a single mother named Latifa, and Malak´s grandmother Jeeda Hazzah who dies of cancer. But Malak is the champion of her family against a violent father and the children of the Zoco who she fights singlehandedly. This is a magical and often mystical story of a young girl and the people she stumbles upon, as she is rushed away by her uncertain destiny, to the land in which her mother was born, the Sahara Desert. The unravelling of Malak's story is also the unsnarling of the web of intrigue surrounding the North of Africa, and it´s peoples and history, and the reasons for many current dilemmas in this land of witchcraft and mystery. The tale begins in earnest when a wandering ex-warrior happens on the child and is struck by her magnificent courage and beauty. After a significant episode with her drunken father and his cronies, having interceded on the family´s behalf, he flees with them on a stolen high-speed cruiser heading for Western Sahara and freedom. In the course of their errant journey, they are taken into threatening custody by the Algerian police. The day is saved by the intervention of an old friend of the warrior´s. The friend, a powerful Algerian Warlord, falls under the spell of the feisty child and seems to want to help them although Malak and her mother see in him a very enigmatic and untrustworthy character. Malak´s personality and mystic nature make of her the flux in an adventure which begins as a race to return her to her maternal grandfather´s family. Things start to escalate as her father reports the family as kidnapped and his country uses it as an excuse to intervene militarily. What begins as a flight of mercy will become a race against time as Malak and her friends take on the impossible to try and avoid a military invasion of the whole region by the allied forces of half of the civilised world. In this, they enlist the help of hundreds of thousands of tribespeople. Some tribes known to all and others lost in the wastes of the mysterious desert.

Changing current failed wild horse advocacy policy and resulting management to enable a genuinely sustainable solution requires courage and intellectual honesty

PZP Is 'Genetic Poison', and shooting PZP projectiles into free-roaming American wild horses is 'harassment' and a violation of the federal Act that protects wild horses.”

— William E. Simpson II – Naturalist

YREKA, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, October 17, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — The first and arguably most important step in solving any problem, even one as complex as the issues around the sustainable conservation of free-roaming American wild horses, is to:

1. Recognize there is a problem; and,
2. Identify and define the problem… at its root.

This is much harder to accomplish than it sounds. That’s because of the extensive white-noise that is primarily made-up from misinformation that largely fills the bandwidth of most interested wild horse stakeholders and informs the opinions of many others, including people who have ‘good intentions’.

Importantly, ‘good intentions’ can kill when they are combined with flawed applications of science. One example of this would be the improper application of cardio pulmonary resuscitation (‘CPR’) on a patient. Even with the ‘best intentions’ by a good Samaritan, the improper application of CPR will reduce the odds of survival of the patient.

The Problem:

Wild horses in America are not being managed in harmony with natural evolutionary processes. All wildlife management must be conducted in concert with natural processes.

Wild horses are desperate for a genuine solution from the pressures placed on public land grazing uses by consumerism, which land-use pressures are only going to grow.

The current ignorant yet trendy paradigm of trying to replace natural evolutionary processes that maintain wild horse (wildlife) populations in equilibrium with artificial man-made processes, as so-called ‘population management’, does not yield a sustainable natural population of genetically vibrant wild horses over the long-haul.

PZP Is 'Genetic Poison' when used on free-roaming wild horses (wildlife).

Today, there are too many non-profit activist organizations whose ignorance of natural evolutionary sciences is harming the long-term odds for a sustainable natural population of wild horses in America. These non-profits are harming the long-term genetic vigor of wild horses via their support, promotion and or uses of porcine zona pellucida (‘PZP’) and GonaCon on wild horses.

The ‘Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act’ (Public Law 92-195; the ‘Act’), was enacted by Congress in 1971 and signed by then President Richard Nixon to provide for the necessary management, protection and control of wild horses and burros on public lands by the Bureau of Land Management (‘BLM’) and the U.S. Forest Service (‘USFS’).

Currently, the BLM and USFS are ‘managing’ wild horses and burros in areas defined under the Act as Herd Management Areas (‘HMAs’), which today, 50-years after the Act was passed, are grazing areas where wild horses are now commingled with livestock.

Most HMAs (not all) have been made largely devoid of apex predators over the past 300-years of livestock management on these public lands. The practice of eliminating apex predators is deemed necessary by the livestock industry in order to meet the market demands (price and quantity) of consumers for livestock-based products.

Consumerism (people) drives the markets for livestock products, not the other way around.

The BLM and the USFS are caught in the politics related to the lobbying crossfire of both wild horse advocates, who want less cattle on public lands, and livestock grazers, who based-on meeting cost-effective market demands, argue they need more public lands grazing.

Currently, the makeshift solution to this difficult market-driven dilemma is being addressed with aggressive round-ups of wild horses to create more livestock grazing, combined with the uses of the chemicals PZP and GonaCon as supposed ‘contraception’ to stop wild horse population growth, which in light of the best science is a highly flawed management tactic and contrary to maintaining vibrantly sustainable wild horse genetics and populations.

The BLM and wild horse non-profit organizations and activists who are engaged in the selective breeding of native species American wild horses using PZP are meddling with natural processes that are critical for the long-term survival of American wild horses.

When a human decides which animals get to breed and/or which do not, that is by definition ‘selective breeding’. And that is contrary to the intent of the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act (WFRHBA).

Pursuing wild horses with high-powered firearms and shooting them with projectiles filled with PZP is ‘harassment’ of wild horses and is arguably a violation of the intent and codification of the Act established by Congress to protect wild horses and burros.

Selective breeding of native wild horses by humans disintermediates the evolutionary process of ‘Natural Selection’ by the co-evolved predators of wild horses, which is critical to the continued survival and genetic vigor of wild horses.

More: https://www.einnews.com/pr_news/552908330/wild-horses-selective-breeding-and-roundups-are-driving-herds-to-extinction

‘Natural Selection’ is an essential evolutionary process in any co-evolved predator-prey relationship. This is why it is flawed management to maintain wild horse populations that are commingled with livestock populations in Herd Areas that have been made devoid of apex predators. This is great for livestock production, but terrible for wild horses, which require and depend upon their co-evolved predators for their genetic vigor and population equilibrium within any ecosystem.

Regardless of ‘good intentions’ by some wild horse non-profit organizations and activists, doing the wrong things for wild horses is harmful and inexcusable.

Excuses that posit the use of chemical contraception (PZP and GonaCon) on native species American wild horses as the best solution for overpopulation are examples of a poor understanding of evolutionary science. And this ignorance is driving the irreversible damage that is being done to the remaining populations of American wild horses.

It’s important to note and understand that the demands for more intensive uses of public lands is certain due to growing consumerism in America and beyond. And with these increasing demands, wild horses will come under even greater management pressures, unless a better solution becomes the main event in all discussions.

The Root of the Problem

Keeping American wild horses commingled with livestock in herd areas where apex predators have been depleted is perpetrating an ecologic injustice upon native species American wild horses, and perpetuates an illogical range-war.

In the light of natural evolutionary processes that provide equilibrium among animal populations, current management tactics are obtuse as are the many very costly workarounds, such as the failed attempts to address the fallout (overpopulation) from a lack of natural wild horse predators, using expensive roundups and contraception.

A Modern Science-Based Final Solution:

In a nutshell: relocating wild horses from areas of contention as intact family bands, as well as re-wilding wild horses from expensive off-range holding areas and into the remote wilderness, beyond conflict with livestock enterprises is the essence of the Plan.

America has more than 110-million acres of remote wilderness areas in the western states. Much of this wilderness is manifestly unfit for any livestock production due to difficult mountainous terrain, which adversely affects livestock management logistical costs, combined with the presence of robust populations of apex predators.

These economic challenges significantly increase costs of livestock production, thereby increasing the cost of goods sold (COGS) to a point where the end products are not competitively priced. Therefore, along with other laws, economics rules-out any potential livestock grazing in such wilderness areas.

These same remote wilderness areas are nevertheless blessed with abundant water and forage, yet are suffering from almost annual catastrophic wildfire due to the depleted populations of large-bodied native herbivores (deer and elk) that had previously inhabited those landscapes. In the not-too-distant past, these same wilderness areas had proper population densities of deer, elk and wild horses, which through their grazing, maintained ground fuels (grass and brush) to nominal levels year-round, keeping wildfires in the realm of normal wildfire (less fuel means less heat).

There have been serious declines in deer and elk populations in some western states (like, California, Oregon, Washington, etc.). And over the past decades, that has resulted in millions of tons of prodigious annually occurring ground fuels (grass and brush), which is now left un-grazed in these very remote wilderness areas. These ground fuels are then subjected to a warming climate, rendering these fuels viable for wildfire sooner in the season, and remaining as dry tinder longer.

Wildfire Fuels Reduction Using Wild Horses (‘Wild Horse Fire Brigade’)

Cattle and sheep have complex stomachs which digest virtually all the plant and grass seeds they consume, making them unable to germinate.
Wild horses, on the other hand, pass virtually all the seeds they consume intact out onto the ground in their droppings and able to germinate, providing a critically important reseeding function for native plants.

This evolved symbiosis between wild horses and the flora of the North American continent required millions of years of co-evolution, and is especially beneficial for wilderness lands that have been devastated by catastrophically hot wildfire.

The droppings of wild horses contain microorganisms (aka: microbiome) that help fire-damaged landscapes with pasteurized soils to recover via reestablishing the microbiome along with humus and the seeds of native flora .

Each wild horse deployed into these selected wilderness areas will symbiotically consume about 5.5 tons of grass and brush annually as the concurrently reseed the landscape, keeping a delicate ecological balance in place. The resulting wildfire fuels reduction via wild horses is virtually cost-free for taxpayers, and simultaneously solves the livestock-wild horse conflict on lands (HMAs) where livestock production is virtually a permanent enterprise.

An added benefit is taxpayers no longer have to foot the bill for the $100-million+ in annual costs that the BLM spends on rounding-up and warehousing wild horses off-range, nor the expensive taxpayer costs related to flawed contraception concepts that some people are motivated to support.

Two Potential Options Available To Allow Rewilding as well as Relocating Wild Horses:

1. Amending Section 1339 of the ‘Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act’ (Public Law 92-195) to allow the BLM and USFS to relocate and rewild wild horses into wilderness areas that are economically and ecologically appropriate.

Here is the current language that must be addressed: § 1339. Limitation of Authority:

“Nothing in this Act shall be construed to authorize the Secretary to relocate wild free-roaming horses or burros to areas of the public lands where they do not presently exist.”

Proposed amended language (by William E. Simpson II), for § 1339. Limitation of Authority:

“Nothing in this Act shall be construed to authorize the Secretary to relocate wild free-roaming horses or burros to areas of the public lands where they do not presently exist, with the exception that; in Wilderness Areas managed by the United States Forest Service (USFS) and/or the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) containing forests and/or other natural resources at risk of catastrophic wildfire; the BLM and the USFS shall under this Act have authority to re-wild American wild horses and burros from off-range holding facilities and/or relocate wild horses and burros from existing Herd Management Areas into such Wilderness Areas where it is ecologically and economically appropriate.”

2. Using existing law: Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2017 (HUMANE TRANSFER OF EXCESS ANIMALS SEC. 116) to transfer excess wild horses and burros currently in holding to other federal, state, and local government agencies for use as work animals.

HUMANE TRANSFER AND TREATMENT OF ANIMALS
SEC. 419.

(a) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Secretary of the Interior, with respect to land administered by the Bureau of Land Management, or the Secretary of Agriculture, with respect to land administered by the Forest Service (referred to in this section as the ‘‘Secretary concerned’’), may transfer excess wild horses and burros that have been removed from land administered by the Secretary concerned to other Federal, State, and local government agencies for use as work animals. (b) The Secretary concerned may make a transfer under sub-section (a) immediately on the request of a Federal, State, or local government agency. (c) An excess wild horse or burro transferred under subsection (a) shall lose status as a wild free-roaming horse or burro (as defined in section 2 of Public Law 92–195 (commonly known as the ‘‘Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act’’) (16 U.S.C. 1332)). (d) A Federal, State, or local government agency receiving an excess wild horse or burro pursuant to subsection (a) shall not— (1) destroy the horse or burro in a manner that results in the destruction of the horse or burro into a commercial product; (2) sell or otherwise transfer the horse or burro in a manner that results in the destruction of the horse or burro for processing into a commercial product; or (3) euthanize the horse or burro, except on the recommendation of a licensed veterinarian in a case of severe injury, illness, or advanced age. (e) Amounts appropriated by this Act shall not be available for— (1) the destruction of any healthy, unadopted, and wild horse or burro under the jurisdiction of the Secretary concerned (including a contractor); or (2) the sale of a wild horse or burro that results in the destruction of the wild horse or burro for processing into a commercial product.

Revolutionary Pennsylvania Author Kevin Blaize Sheds Light on Housing Crisis and Financial Illiteracy in Black Americans

Information is power and a lot of us want the information and do not know where to turn to receive it. We are changing this and changing history!”

— Kevin Blaize, author and advocate

LONG POND, PA, UNITED STATES, October 17, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ —
Buying that first house with the white picket fence is an American dream. Well, sorry to say that for some segments of our demographics, that dream never manifests into a reality. Kevin Blaize, an upcoming star in the literary world, dared to explore this subject of home ownership inequity in his new book titled, “Blacks in America! 18 to 48 years old and still no house?” You can find the answer to this provocative question on the pages of Blaize’s timely book. This insightfully written piece, launched in April of this year, is a must read for Black folks who have desired substantive information on this matter.
Regarding the Black community’s position, Kevin states that, “As of 2018, our average age to buy our first home was 48 years old. Only because nobody is showing us the process. They are not teaching it in schools, and households aren't able to teach it to the ones coming up. So, the two places we rely on to be taught by are failing us in this important process.”

This notable work by Mr. Blaize peels away the untruths and brings light to pertinent steps in the home-buying process, and in doing so, takes away the blinders from the eyes of potential homebuyers of color. Kevin draws on his own personal experiences, good and bad, and then refines them into a simple formula that is easy to digest.

In the first quarter of 2020, 44 percent of Black families owned their home compared with 73.7 percent of white families, according to the Census Bureau. The gap is wider in some cities, with just 25 percent of Black families owning a home in Minneapolis, compared with 76 percent of whites, which is the widest gap in U.S. cities with over one million residents, a study by Redfin Real Estate brokerage found.

Mr. Blaize, again, poses a question. Why are we lagging behind other races? These dire statistics reflect a resounding need for change in Black thinking and satiability. Owning a home for Black Americans should be the norm, not the insurmountable mountain. Kevin’s mission to the community of color is to "make sure we have the information needed so we no longer feel overwhelmed going into the homebuyer process"

Jason Sissung's "Nekora" explores origins of necromancers

TEXAS, UNITED STATES, October 15, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — In fantasy conventions, a necromancer is a practitioner of a form of black magic that lifts the veil between life and death to communicate with those that have passed and even command the dead. They are typically portrayed as evil or villainous beings. But with his fantasy novel, Jason Sissung treats readers to a more complex depiction of necromancers and their origins, one that delves into the grey areas between good and evil. This is the story of "Nekora."

The titular elf is a sweet, loving and family-oriented soul who loves to joke around with her friends and enjoys gossiping. Yet this idyllic life is not meant to last, for tragic events take place that are out of control and the crisis causes her to change. While she attempts to keep her emotions in check, her situation worsens, her desperation grows. But amidst all the anguish and hopelessness lies one path to power and control, one way to regain some semblance of determination rather than be swept away. Thus readers will see the birth of the first Necromancer, a being that wields mastery over the boundary between life and death, eldritch abilities that most see as a violation of the natural order, an abomination that defies all that is good and holy. Black magic at its darkest, only practiced by the most foul and evil.

But Sissung’s narrative asks the readers if it is truly as simple as that, if wielding such ghoulish arts naturally translates to an evil nature. “Nekora” goes further and asks what nature itself means, whether a person is innately good and evil, and if the choices they make in life are solely their own doing or the result of circumstances that leave them with limited options. An aficionado of fantasy fiction and an avid Dungeons & Dragons player, Sissung’s narrative explores people and settings in ways that are beyond character sheets, statistics and dice rolls, entering murky and amoral territories where boundaries blur, where matters are not so clear cut as traditions would dictate.

The portrayal of evil forces in “Nekora” shows what can possibly cause said darkness to emerge in the first place, what drives it, its volition. A lover of tabletop roleplaying games, Sissung says his favorite character type is the necromancer. Realizing that this character class is almost always depicted in various media as evil in nature, he wondered what made them in the first place. This inspired “Nekora.” He leaves the interpretation of evil for the readers to decide, in Sissung’s words, “Decide yourself whether Necromancers are evil in nature. This is not the explanation of all Necromancers, just the first one. It was written to inspire thought.”

About the Author
An avid video gamer and technophile, Jason Sissung served as an Electronic Warfare Operator which he describes as a job that is similar to playing games, then he went on to be an instructor and an engineer.

Life Accurately Paints Living in the Modern Age for African Americans

Life: Four Quarters Plus Overtime

Life: Four Quarters Plus Overtime

Author Floyd L. Griffin

Floyd L. Griffin brilliant study of the lives of African Americans in a country marred with racism

COOKSTOWN, NEW JERSEY, USA, October 15, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — The African American presence in the United States has had quite an impact in that nation’s culture. Floyd L. Griffin’s “Life: Four Quarters Plus Overtime” is an analysis of all the four quarters of the life of an African American in the U.S. The book uses the unique perspective of sports terms as a vehicle for the prose.

Griffin’s book cuts up the life cycle of a human being into four stages, or quarters. The first quarter covers the early development of the individual, from birth to the teenage years, and discusses the child’s growth into an early adult in today’s society. The second quarter follows immediately where the first ends, continuing well into the quarter-life, and talks about the responsibilities and challenges that young and established adults confront such as finding jobs and forming lasting relationships.

The third and fourth quarters, on the other hand, cover everything from midlife to late adulthood. These chapters deal about heavier long-term topics like leaving a legacy, aging gracefully, finding and maintaining a purpose, and finding contentment. It also goes into overtime, which is all about old age and the last stages of life.

There are two things that make Griffin’s book unique: it is one of the few books of its kind that uses the life and experiences of African Americans as basis for each stage in life. It also simplifies the language into everyday terms used in sports, specifically basketball and football, which makes it simpler for everyday people to understand.

“Life: Four Quarters Plus Overtime” gives readers an unfettered look into the African American’s experience in America today. It is a book about the idealism of growth and the realities of aging in a world where racism is far from an afterthought.

With commentary from people from all sectors of society, African American knowledge, and wisdom, and quotes from scripture here and there, Floyd L. Griffin’s book promises to be an important text in the field of social studies in the future.

Griffin was elected State Senator from the 25th Senatorial District of Georgia and Mayor of Milledgeville, Georgia. Griffin also served as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam and served as a colonel in the US Army. He is now running as a Democrat for Secretary of State in Georgia to continue the fight against oppression and racism. You can also visit the author’s campaign website at www.floydforgeorgia.com.

Interested parties may purchase the book from bookstores everywhere.

Interview with the Daughter of a Forgotten Canadian Olympic Legend. A True Underdog Story – The Authentic You Podcast

Incredible Real Life Stories & The Ultimate Career Advice

Chun Hon Chan is a Canadian who hasn't been recognized yet, but he was the FIRST Chinese-Canadian to represent Canada in the Olympics in Men's Weightlifting.

The main lesson is not in the loss of a loved one. But of what it truly means to find our way through life. To carve out a piece, that we can call our own.
To find our peace, and to find our home.”

— Goran Yerkovich

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA, October 15, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — In this episode of The Authentic You Podcast, hosted by Goran Yerkovich, we rewrite a missing piece of Canadian Olympic History!

This story begins as most immigrant stories do, but ends with an inspiring lesson in just what can happen if you follow your dreams.

"Sound Mind. Sound Body." This was the late Chun Hon Chan.

Chan was a Chinese Canadian immigrant who arrived in Montreal, Canada from Hong Kong at the age of 19 with little money, cleaning bathrooms to survive. Years later, he'd learn the business, working every restaurant position possible, to eventually become a restaurant owner himself.

He also married, raising a family with three children, but during all this time he began an unlikely journey.

A journey, which to this day, has not been fully recognized in Canadian history books.

Chun Hon Chan become an unlikely but fully deserving pioneering competitor in the Olympics, representing Canada in the 1968 & 1972 Summer Olympics in weightlifting.

During the peak of his career, Chan set five Canadian weightlifting records, breaking all stereotypes and barriers placed in his way.

The Authentic You Podcast recently had the opportunity to interview Chan's daughter, Debbie Chan, who shines bright in her family's tribute to her late father in this heart-warming conversation.

During our discussion, Debbie reveals we still need to write a missing piece of Canadian history, because Chun Hon Chan was the FIRST Chinese-Canadian to represent Canada in the Olympics in Men's Weightlifting, and he even more, Chan was the First Chinese-Canadian to represent Canada in the Olympics.

For this story I contacted the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Canadian Olympic Committee for comment. The IOC was able to confirm Chun Hon Chan competed for Canada in the Olympics, but they also explained the Canadian Olympic Committee was responsible for verifying historical information posed in this interview. So I contacted the Canadian Olympic Committee.

Weeks later, and we're still waiting for comment from the Canadian Olympic Committee.

But we need not wait for their reply, because this story, in many ways, has already been written.

This incredible true story is not just a piece of missing Canadian history – it's something much more. Because this is not just a Montreal story, about loving life and living it to the fullest, it's a Canadian story in being welcomed into a nation, a sport, and community without racial biased.

It is also a father's story, a family's story, and an underdog story in unwavering determination, despite all odds.

Ultimately this is a human story which proves, the improbable is possible – in setting big audacious goals and staying true to yourself, each of us can find our own way to shine.

Sales Guru Dr. Gary Goodman Says Selling Through Voice Mail Is Today’s Best Strategy

There’s No Avoiding It Because No One Answers Their Phone!

There’s a fortune to be made in sales by leaving more effective voice mails.”

— Dr. Gary Goodman

CHANNEL ISLANDS BEACH, CA, USA, October 15, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Fortune 1000 sales and service consultant Dr. Gary Goodman has been trained to exploit what others don’t see. A protege of management sage, Peter F. Drucker, Goodman has a sharp eye for business building opportunities.

Right now, Goodman says "there’s a fortune to be made in sales by leaving more effective voice mails."

Not tapping voice mail’s secrets, some companies have “foolishly” given-up entirely on outbound prospecting, Goodman points out.

Morgan Stanley, after an 80-year run prohibited it because “people don’t pick-up” a ringing phone.

“Sellers totally underestimate the power of voice mail to do their selling for them.,” Goodman claims.

“Many sellers hang-up, believing voice mail is a waste of effort,” he says.

What are otherwise salable leads are thus discarded.

Another bad habit is leaving what Goodman terms, “Tombstone Voice Mails.”

These announce the caller’s name and number only, in the faint hope such scant information will generate a reply.

Goodman, a best-selling author of 26 books, including You Can Sell Anything By Telephone, says attention needs to be re-deployed to leaving voice mails that sell.

These are so well-designed and expertly delivered that they pique interest and advance the buying process, while promoting faster and more frequent responses.

Goodman says an effective voice mail has several components, including persuasive information, scarcity, and urgency. Above all, winning voice mails are scripted and are only changed by design, to improve results.

Goodman can be reached about his techniques at gary@customersatisfaction.com or at (818) 970-GARY.
