Author Brittany Purvis Releases New Picture Book 'Finn Finds His Way

NEW CITY, NY, UNITED STATES, August 12, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Author Brittany Purvis will soon release Finn Finds His Way, a fully illustrated children's picture book that will be available from Publish With Kaylee. Set on the family farm at Jimmy Junction, the story follows Finn, a small, pale-striped fish who joins his friends on an adventure to the deepest part of the pond and quietly discovers that he does not feel as bright as everyone around him.

While his friends race ahead, thrilled by the day, Finn swims lower and slower. He is smaller than the others and lighter in color, and he carries feelings he does not yet have words for, not with his brothers, and not with his friends. When a kind friend notices and a wise old frog named Jimbo asks what is on his mind, Finn begins to say out loud what he has been holding in: that sometimes he feels invisible, and sometimes he wonders whether he matters at all.

What follows is the turning point the book is built around. Jimbo shows Finn that no two fish, frogs, or turtles are ever exactly alike, and that difference has never meant less. When sunlight catches Finn's scales in the open water, his friends see what he could not see himself, and Finn finally understands that his glow was his all along.

About the Book:

Finn Finds His Way pairs a simple, rhythmic read-aloud text with vivid full-spread illustrations of the pond above and below the waterline. Written for young readers roughly ages 4 to 8, it opens conversations about self-worth, loneliness, and asking for help, and it gives parents, caregivers, and educators a natural way to talk with children about naming what they feel.

About the Author:

Brittany Purvis writes for children about the feelings that are hardest to put into words. Finn Finds His Way grew out of a belief that emotional honesty is a skill children can learn early, and that a story about a small fish in a big pond can make room for a conversation a child might not otherwise know how to start.
